Dryer Lint Filter and Ducting Safety Information:
Inspect and clean all lint buildup from the lint filer regularly. It is important to note that over a period of time, dryer vents fill with small particles of lint that pass through or around the lint filter.
A fire can occur if excessive lint deposits collect in the dryer or the exhaust duct.
Lint can actually block the flow of heated air causing excessive heat buildup, which could result in a fire.
It is estimated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission that there are approximately 15,000 dryer related fires each year.
Make sure air ducting sections or runs are undamaged.
Check to be sure that all exhaust dampers open and close easily.
Inspect dampers monthly, and clean at least one time per year.
Note: If clothes are routinely not getting dry, then check ducting for obstructions or damaged sections.
