HOOD VENTS
Lambro produces HAVC hood vents, which are crucial parts of kitchen, bathroom, and dryer HVAC ventilation systems. Our hood vent products may be listed as roof vents, hood vents, under eve vents, or caps on our site.
When searching for ” hood vents,” “exhaust vents,” or “vent hoods” on Google, one may come across pages about kitchen range hoods, which are hood canopies that remove smoke and odors from cooking ranges or car hoods.
However, these terms also have a different meaning in regards to HVAC ventilation systems for kitchens, dryers, and bathrooms. HVAC hood vents refer to the final component of a HVAC system that allows exhaust- fumes, moist air and hot air to escape through an exterior wall or roof. These types of hood vents are often referred to as wall/roof caps, roof/wall vents, dryer vent hoods, or simply as a vent hood or exhaust vent.

WALL & ROOF HOOD VENTS for DRYERS
WALL HOOD VENTS for DRYERS
To ensure proper ventilation and prevent potential problems, it is important to follow the installation instructions carefully when choosing a dryer hood vent solution. Moreover, dryer exhaust hoods serve a crucial function in safeguarding your home from fire hazards. To ensure that your dryer hood vent is installed correctly and compliant with regulations, it is advisable to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Familiarize yourself with local dryer vent codes. These codes may vary by location, but there are generally accepted standards that most jurisdictions follow.
- Ensure that your dryer vent meets or surpasses these requirements. This will help you ensure that your dryer vent is properly installed and up to code, keeping your home safe from fire hazards.
- The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code 2158 states that clothes dryers must be vented to the outside of the building. The International Residential Code (IRC) M1401.4 requires that clothes dryers be exhausted to the outdoors through an approved duct. The duct material shall be rigid metal, semi-rigid metal duct, rigid nonmetallic duct or other type listed in the dryer manufacturer’s installation instructions.
Features for wall hood vents for dryers include (depending upon model):
· Opening/closing damper prevents outside elements from entering the vent
· Removable screen
· UV inhibitor is used to help prevent the premature fading of vent

WALL & ROOF HOOD VENTS for a BATHROOM VENTILATION SYSTEM
Plastic & Aluminum HVAC Hood Vents for Roof Ventilation
Bathroom wall and roof hood vents along with the necessary ducts are a critical part of a home’s ventilation system. Yet having a bathroom intake and / or hood fan is often overlooked, particularly in you live in an older rental, condo or coop apartment where building codes do not require it as long as you have a window in the bathroom. For new homes, an exhaust fan with the appropriate ducting ventilation in bathrooms is a must.
By removing moisture vapors generated from bathing or showering, as well as keeping the bathroom fresh from odors, a bathroom exhaust fan can not only help prevent serious damage to drywall, wallpaper, window coverings, and cabinetry, but also eliminate mold issues. A bathroom exhaust fan keeps the bathroom dry and odor-free. Models are available that mount in the ceiling, a wall or the window, but all must vent outside via an exterior wall or through the roof.
The most common option for bathroom exhaust fan venting is out through an exterior wall. The second most common is through the roof. Bathroom exhaust fan venting installation at the soffit, the underside of a roof’s overhang, is less often utilized. Check with your local building code regarding a soffit installation because not all municipalities allow this venting option.

Bathroom Wall Hood Vent Kits w/ Parts
Unlike dryer ducts, the interior surfaces of bathroom ducts can be ridged or smooth. Smooth surfaces aren’t not required for the bathroom ducts as they are for dryer ducts. And unlike dryer ducts, metal, plastic, and aluminum flex ducts are also permitted. Pooling of condensation is more of a concern. For bathroom vents, there are no explicit length and diameter requirements in the IRC (International Residential Code). FYI: Clothes dryer ducts can be used for a bathroom / shower fan’s exhaust duct, but not necessarily vice versa.
Residential Code (IRC) SECTION M1502 CLOTHES DRYER EXHAUST guidelines state that “Exhaust ducts shall be constructed of minimum 0.016-inch-thick (0.4 mm) rigid metal ducts, having smooth interior surfaces, with joints running in the direction of air flow. Exhaust ducts shall not be connected with sheet-metal screws or fastening means which extend into the duct“. In other words: flexible, ribbed vents are not allowed for dryer ducts.
Typical kit features include:
• Opening/closing damper prevents outside elements from entering the vent
• Removable screen
• UV inhibitor used to help prevent the premature fading of outside Hood vent
• Include either hood or cap vents or louvered vents with tail pipe, a trim plate and some type of clamp
