This exhaust vent is designed with a spring-controlled damper that opens and closes, effectively blocking outside air and elements from entering. When the exhaust fan is off, the damper seals the vent to prevent any air from escaping. Conversely, when the fan is activated, the pressure from the exhaust air forces the damper open, allowing the air to exit the vent.
It is crucial for all indoor gas appliances, including gas heaters, gas fireplaces, gas water heaters, and gas dryers, to have a fresh air intake vent. Without this vent, these appliances rely on the oxygen present in the air, which can result in dangerous levels of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide accumulating in the home. By removing the preinstalled damper, the vent can be transformed into a fresh air intake.
Designed for rainscreen applications thanks to its extended base, which bridges the gap between the sheathing and the cladding. The two-piece construction prevents leaks at joints and enhances water protection with a one-piece molded base. An improved larger drip edge effectively directs water away. The integrity of the building envelope is maintained with a removable hood that allows for easy duct cleaning. An oversized flange ensures a watertight fit.
The 2.4-inch collar is suitable for through-the-wall installation. A spring-controlled damper blocks outside elements from entering the vent when not in use.
Constructed from polymer resin material, it includes a UV inhibitor to prevent premature fading. The plastic vent can be painted after proper preparation, with plastic paint recommended.
