Exhaust or Intake Vent
The Lambro 6-inch white plastic exhaust j-channel hood vent with a 1-inch collar is ideal for venting exhaust or fresh air intake applications through the wall. You can easily use the vent for new and replacement installations using a 6.375-inch diameter opening.
The vent features an opening and closing spring-controlled damper that prevents outside elements and air from entering. The damper seals the vent opening when the exhaust fan is not running because no exhaust air exits the vent. When the exhaust fan operates, the exhaust air pressure pushes the damper open to let the exhaust air escape from the vent.
When removing the damper, the vent allows clean, fresh air into the home when gas appliances are present or when today’s houses are airtight. All gas appliances should have a fresh air intake vent if they are indoors. These include gas heaters, fireplaces that use gas, gas water heaters, and gas dryers. If they don’t have a fresh air intake vent, they rely on the oxygen in the air, adding carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in unhealthy ranges to the home.
The vent features an opening containing the removable screen with a net-free area of 18 square inches, allowing for less back pressure. Removing the screen allows for the net-free area of the unrestricted opening to be 29 square inches. Included is an optional 6″ diameter wire mesh screen with 0.25-inch openings when using for a fresh air intake.
The vent’s manufacturing material is polymer resin with a UV additive to prevent premature fading caused by sunlight. It would be best to prep the vent before painting; we recommend plastic paint for effective painting.
